Cheesemaker Positions
Arethusa Farm Dairy is a fast-growing artisan dairy located in Bantam, CT. We produce a wide variety of award-wining dairy products using the milk from hand-picked local herds. Currently, we’re looking for a new member to lead our cheese making team.
As head cheesemaker you will oversee all aspects of our cheese production including the hands-on making and maturation of nine different artisan cheeses, food safety and quality management, packaging, order fulfillment, and product development.
We are looking for someone who is a strong leader, meticulous, detail oriented, hands-on and passionate about the craft and science of artisan cheese.
Expectations & responsibilities:
Hands on involvement in all aspects of the cheese making process – from the vat to our state-of-the-art aging facility
Ongoing product development with our dedicated team of cheesemakers
Demonstrated passion for artisanal cheeses
Take initiative and solve problems quickly and efficiently
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety Programs
Advanced knowledge of food science, cheese cultures, ripening and FSMA sanitation practices
Requirements:
2+ years of cheesemaking experience
Passion for artisan cheese
Demonstrated ability to be an effective team leader
Willingness to learn, educate and build a cohesive team of expert artisan cheesemakers
